The Brighton and Hove 10:10 community is gearing up to take part in 10:10:10 – the largest day of carbon cutting ever seen.
The 10:10:10 Global Day of Doing will involve almost every country on Earth, from Down Under, where bicycle mechanics in Auckland, New Zealand, will repair thousands of bikes, to the West coast of the US, where crowds will gather at nightfall in Seattle for a huge concert.
In Tokyo, Japan, sumo wrestlers will start cycling to training, while trees will be planted by children at 10,000 schools across Russia and Croatia. Meanwhile, the cities of Paris, Mexico City and Lisbon will follow in Brighton and Hove’s footsteps and make a citywide 10:10 commitment to cut emissions by 10% over the next year.
The Brighton and Hove 10:10 team are proud to be part of the 10:10:10 Global Day of Doing, organised by 350.org and 10:10 Global. As the first 10:10 city, we’ll be hosting a number of events and encouraging everyone to take part in carbon cutting action.
Hanover 10:10 Action Group is organising an afternoon of performance, practical information and interaction. With 10 stalls covering everything from home energy saving and renewable energy to local food stands and groups to get involved in.
Local outfit Moving Sounds will be performing their brand new show “Connected”, which aims to present the causes and consequences of climate change in a fun and entertaining way. The show incorporates cutting-edge films, stunning photography, clowning, theatre and plenty of music and rap. Workshops will follow, with Moving Sounds leading lively discussion that everyone can get involved in.
Lewes Road for Clean Air will be on the Level for 10:10:10 Day, making the links between Air pollution and CO2 emissions and inviting people to reduce their car use and related emissions. A collection of whacky bikes will be available for people to have a go at riding.
The popular “Bike Train” will be re-starting from 10:10:10, with daily group bike rides organized between the Level and University sites in Moulsecoomb and Falmer. Duncan Blinkhorn, Bike Train organiser, said: “We need to move away from a car dominated culture. Bike Train provides a friendly, assertive, safety-in-numbers environment for cyclists to overcome their fears and achieve the first steps that will pave the way to that future.”
Here’s s sneak peak at our very pretty (thanks Simon @ 7Creative) flyer:B&H101010Flyer to be hitting hot spots in Brighton and Hove over the next few days.

Can you give me further details about the Hanover event. Patcham High School is a 10:10 school and this week I am leading assemblies for the whole school to raise awareness for Sunday and it would be good to encourage students to attend various events. Is the show free of charge. Can you send me the times and exact location
