THE BEST NEW YEARS RESOLUTION 2011

A happy new year to all our fantastic supporters from the Brighton & Hove 10:10 team.

cutting carbon illustation

As we say goodbye to a successful 2010 during which we signed up thousands of people in the City and were involved in events from Pride festival to the international day of doing 10:10:10, we are looking forward to continuing the good work into 2011 — with your help of course.

And in case you were wondering, we won’t be changing our name to 10:11! This year is all about continuing to cut carbon 10% at a time, maintaining momentum, and achieving even more than last year.

So, why not make a New Year’s resolution that saves you money, keeps you fit (see here) and helps stop climate change? Sign up to 10:10 and cut your carbon footprint by 10%, and you’ll be doing just that.

Here in Brighton & Hove, the first 10:10 city, thousands of people, businesses and organisations have already started taking positive steps to hit their 10% target.

If you’ve already signed up, make it your New Year’s resolution to get 10 friends, family members or colleagues signed up. Or 10 of each! If you like this illustration from Carlos Garde-Martin why not attach one to an email telling a friend about 10:10 . There are also plenty more resources in our communications toolkit.

We’ve been amazed by Brighton & Hove’s carbon-cutting efforts throughout 2010 and there’s no sign of the City slowing down. We want to say a big THANK YOU to all our supporters and highlight a few things to watch out for in 2011:

  • A showcase of our Pioneers’ work (Feb)
  • Brighton & Hove 10:10’s first birthday (March)
  • Launch of Phase II of the campaign with an exciting city-wide project
  • More promos and discounts for 10:10ers
  • Eco-fashion event (June)

So keep up the good work and help us tell everyone that the campaign aims to achieve even more in 2011.

Carlos Garde-Martin is an illustrator who has worked for a diverse range of clients, some of these include Digital Artist magazine, Nixon McInnes, Spindle Magazine, Storm CP, Madame Geisha bar, and Craft Guerilla. You may also see his work appearing in exhibitions up and down the country. Aside from illustrating Carlos is a contributor for Creative Boom,  and he teaches the art of illustration at the Friends Centre in Brighton. You can also purchase prints, and badges by him from Castor and Pollux, Hand-made, and the Soupa Emporium. We look forward to showcasing some more of Brighton’s climate related art.
